This is a place to send your prayers to the Fourth god. He may not always respond, or he may respond in ways you don’t expect, but he is always listening.

Speak, he hears you.

OOC note:  As of April 2020, threads with the gods will be capped at three NPC replies! Please keep this in mind when writing god prayers to make sure you get everything you need out of the thread.It’s also possible to handwave prayers by titling your comment HANDWAVED PRAYER. Handwaved prayers lack our usual flourish, but you can expect a faster response!

As of February 2024, god prayers will be handwaved only. Please only submit a prayer if you have a question for either god which needs answering in order to progress your character's arc within Ryslig. If this is something you need to tier up within the god boon system, or just to set up a player plot in general, please don't hesitate to submit a prayer about it! You may shorten it down to an OOC summary of what your character is asking. This will allow any of our helper mods to reply much faster, without having to dig into the specifics of either god's personality/writing quirks. Should this limitation be lifted again in the future, this note will be removed.

[A field of white pixelated squares on a black background washes across the screen. The spots flicker, stars against the black night. A handful of them shift and make constellations: a whale here, the shape of a young girl's body there.

The constellations shift to form star-studded text. Elias doesn't bother with his customary greeting this time.]

[Ah. That's fascinating. Joshua pauses, inspecting the dots and the words that they embellish. It's more than he knew a moment ago, at least.

In reply, he foregoes typing, electing to speak instead.]

So, am I correct in assuming that when we - and any humans originally from here - die in this world, we all go to the Sea of Stars? And, in our case, we're able to be plucked out of it again, somehow, and revived?

[He hums, tapping at a bit of the plastic on the laptop thoughtfully.]

I heard from someone that that's where we are when we're brought into this world. How do we come to be there in the first place? Do you know?

[Static crackles, and a boy's voice whispers through a pair of radio speakers on Joshua's shelves. Were they there before? It doesn't matter, because they belong there now, and look as if they've been there for a long while, a light blanket of dust coating its plastic exterior.]

gods dont belong in the sea of stars
thats a force thats different
from the fog

we dont control that part

we harness whats there
we open and close the doors sometimes
but what comes in is trickier to calibrate

[The sound from the speakers doesn't startle him, but all the same it makes him turn to look. He certainly didn't have those before, and even if he did, it hasn't been long enough for anything to accumulate dust... It's a nice surprise gift, though. He does enjoy music.

This information, however... He's aware that speaking like this may be difficult for prolonged periods of time, since their previous conversations have never been all that long, so he'll keep it respectfully short. All the same, it's all so interesting. He wants to dig his fingers in. He wants to know more.]

I see. So you're able to open and close the lid, but have no control over what comes out.

[The tip of his tail taps against the floor, a steady, rhythmic noise as the rattle is shaken.]

I won't keep you long, but I do have one more question, if you're able to answer. Do you know what force does control that part? Is a natural sort of force, or is it sentient?

[The static crackles thoughtfully. The laptop screen jitters, the stars coming together again to form a tableau: first, a round gleaming orb appears, then shatters to become a cloud of mist. The last picture to stick is the shadowed silhouette of a boy hooked up to wires and blipping monitors. He's starkly faceless.]

its probably sentient
and thats why its unpredictable

but im still learning about that
as much as i can
something ancient like the sea of stars
its hard to tease apart the facts from the tall tales
right?

wouldnt want to tip you off
to the wrong stuff prematurely

take it like any unproven tale
and look out for evidence
for the proof
of what the sea is

it could be key
to funneling new bodies out
